5 Tips for Creating a Morning Routine with ADHD
Ew, David… Mornings? Routine? No, thank you… As someone who isn't exactly a morning person and has ADHD, I know firsthand how difficult it can be to get out of bed and start the day off right. Here’s the un-routine, routine… This isn’t the end all be all… However, having 1-2 effective morning routines can significantly improve productivity and general well-being. Here are a few tips that have helped me create a morning routine that works for me: 1. Make it short and sweet. No one wants to spend an hour getting ready in the morning, especially when you're not exactly a morning person. Keep your routine as short and simple as possible to minimize the time and effort you have to put in. 2. Use technology to your advantage. There are plenty of apps and gadgets out there that can help you get out of bed and get your day started. For example, you can use a smart alarm clock that gradually wakes you up with light or use a sleep-tracking app to help you get better sleep. 3. Plan ahead the night before. Before you go to bed, take a few minutes to plan out your morning routine and gather any materials or items you might need. This will help you get a head start in the morning and minimize the chances of feeling overwhelmed or rushed. 4. Find something to look forward to. Whether it's your favorite cup of coffee or a few minutes of quiet meditation, find something that motivates you to get out of bed in the morning. This can be a great way to kickstart your day and give you the energy you need to tackle the tasks ahead. 5. Don't be too hard on yourself. If you're not a morning person and have ADHD, it's understandable if you struggle to get up and get moving in the morning. Don't beat yourself up if you have a hard time sticking to your routine. Just keep trying and be patient with yourself. In conclusion, Slay Fam, creating a morning routine when you're not a morning person and have ADHD can be challenging, but it's definitely doable. With a little bit of planning and some patience, you can set yourself up for a productive and successful day. Press Slay, The Slay Coach
