How to stop negative self talk
As a mom of three with ADHD, I know firsthand the struggles that come with trying to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities. It can be all too easy to fall into a negative thought pattern, filled with phrases like "I can't do this" or "I'll never be able to handle this." But, what if I told you that by simply shifting the way you talk to yourself, you can unlock a whole new world of possibilities? Here are a few tips to help you harness the power of positive self-talk: 1. Recognize negative self-talk. 2. The first step in changing your thought patterns is to recognize when you are engaging in negative self-talk. This might involve catching yourself using phrases like "I can't" or "I'll never be able to." Once you're aware of these thoughts, you can start to challenge and reframe them.
 3. Replace negative phrases with positive ones. 4. Instead of telling yourself "I can't handle this," try reframing the thought as "I am capable of handling this" or "I will figure out a way to handle this." The small shift in language can make a big difference in how you approach a task and your confidence in your ability to tackle it.
 5. Practice gratitude. 6. Another way to shift your focus away from negative thoughts is to practice gratitude. At the end of each day, take a moment to reflect on what you're thankful for. This could be something as simple as a delicious meal you shared with your family or a good night's sleep.
 7. Find an accountability partner. 8. It can be difficult to change your thought patterns on your own. That's why it's helpful to have an accountability partner who can encourage you to stay positive and remind you of your strengths when you're feeling down.
 9. Incorporate Mindfulness 10. A practical way to take care of your mental well-being and develop a positive mindset is to incorporate mindfulness techniques such as meditation, yoga or deep breathing exercise. These practices have been known to help reduce stress and anxiety and improve focus and self-awareness.
In conclusion, as a mom with ADHD, it's easy to fall into the trap of negative self-talk, but by being mindful of our thoughts, replacing negative phrases with positive ones, practicing gratitude, having an accountability partner and incorporating mindfulness practices, we can unlock a whole new world of possibilities and take control of our thoughts and emotions.
